If you’re looking for a summer vacation with variety, the Black Hills is the place to be. Visitors can pick a new activity every day and still not do it all. The abundance of outdoor choices include: hiking, mountain biking, fishing, horseback riding, ATVing, rock climbing and canoeing. The Mickelson Trail is a popular choice, but the area offers many more options depending on the adventure you’re after.

Temperatures rise over the early summer days from highs in the 70s to 80s and 90s in July and August. But, low humidity, plenty of sunshine and cool breezes keeps things comfortable even on the hottest days. Evenings cool off nicely, so be sure to pack a jacket or sweatshirt for your evening activities.

Visit the Hill City Chamber Calendar of Events and make plans to attend one or more special events around the area while you’re here. We’ll be happy to help you with your plans and recommend our favorites. Many events in Hill City are within walking distance of Harney Peak Inn, so you can leave your car safely in front of your guest room.
